Some of the most famous and important wine regions are: Piedmont - is situated on the north of Italy and is most famous for such wines as Barolo, Barbaresco and Asti; Tuscany which is a home to Italy’s most famous wine - Chianti; Lombardy, Apulia, Umbria, Sicily and many others.
When to go
The best months for visiting Italy are April - June and September and October. August is the worst month for visiting due to high temperatures, overcrowding of cities and beaches with tourists, plus many locals go on vacation in August therefore many restaurants, shops and even hotels are closed.
