Nicosia

Nicosia is the biggest city on Cyprus and the divided only capital in the world. It is the centre of Frankish, Ventian and Turkish influences, therefore the city is very diverse and rich in historic monuments. Nicosia’s main tourists destinations are Venetian Walls dating back to the 16th century, Famagusta Gate, Laiki Getonia - renovated old town, Agios Ioannis Cathedral and many more.

Limassol

Limassol is the second biggest city on Cyprus and the largest seaside resort of the island. Even during winter time when the rest of the island gets quiet, Limassol doesn’t stop welcoming its guests. The city is rich in entertainment spots as well as historic sights and art centres. Limassol hosts the annual Wine Festival that takes place in September every year.

Paphos

Paphos is one of the most popular towns among tourists. The former capital of Cyprus during the Roman Empire, it is also a home to the legendary goddess Aphrodite. Some of the most popular destinations in Paphos are Coral Bay, Paphos Castle, Tombs of the Kings and others.

Regions of Cyprus

Cyprus is a small island but it has 6 regions that relatively differ from one another. Don’t limit your travel only to coastal regions, there is plenty to see and enjoy all over the island. Apart from Nicosia, Limassol ans Paphos regions that are mentioned above, Cyprus has:

• Larnaca has its own peculiar charm. Every winter thousands of flamingos, swans and other birds make a stop there. Larnaca can boast with beautiful historical monuments from Byzantine and Muslim cultures.

• Kyrenia is a region on the north of the island. The heart of the city is the port with a hundred of restaurants for any gourmet.

• Famagusta is a port city on the east of the island, on the territory of the de facto state of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. 

Cuisine of Cyprus

Cypriotic cuisine bears a culinary heritage of Mediterranean, South European and Middle Asian cuisines. Cyprus had been conquered many times during its history and as a result it absorbed the best culinary traditions from Syria, Egypt, Venice, Lebanon, Rome and Greece. 

One of the most popular dishes is Meze - an assortiment of small cold and warm dishes. Meze is a great introduction to Cypriotic cuisine. Some of the other famous and popular dishes are Souvlaki, Souvla, Giros, Moussaka and many more. 

When to go

Cyprus is a Mediterranean island where the sun shine almoast every day of a year and abrupt changes of temperature are very rare. Swimming season is between May and November, the rest of the year one can enjoy the beautiful countryside and landscapes of Cyprus.
